New Starters Information

We look forward to welcoming you to Heathfield School.
Over the next few months we will begin to get in contact with parents and carers, to pass on important information regarding registration packs and transistion information. This will be done via email and post.
Application packs will be posted out the week beginning June 2 2025.
Transistion information will start to be communicated with your childs current setting, parents and carers when we return after the May Half Term Holiday.
Free School Meals
A child is eligible for free school meals if their parent or carer receives one or more of the following benefits:
• Income Support
• income-based Job Seekers' Allowance
• income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit, provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit, and have an annual gross income, of no more than £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (Parents who are made redundant or start working less that 16 hours per week, may find their children are entitled to free meals for a limited period.)
• Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
• Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
No other benefits qualify for free school meals from Key Stage 2 (years 3, 4, 5, 6) or for the pupil premium for Reception Year and Key Stage 1 (years 1, 2).

To complete a check you need the following information for yourself or the person you are checking on behalf of:
• your own name, date of birth, and contact details
• National Insurance number or National Asylum Seekers number
• child's name and date of birth
• school your child is attending or will attend
Education Catering Special Diet Registration
The deadline for applying for special diet menus for children starting in September 2025 is Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
Simply create an account and upload your medical evidence here: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
You will need to supply a packed lunch until your child's menu is available.
Once you have created your account, we will be able to review your medical evidence with our inhouse nutritionist in order to devise an adapted menu for your child's school lunch.

School Transport
Applications for SEND is open.
The deadline for on-time applications for September 2025 is 30 June 2025.
Making arrangements for your child
It can take up to 10 working days for a decision to be made on a school transport application. This can take longer between the peak months for applications – March to August. Following an approval decision, it can take up to 15 working days to make the actual transport arrangements. Therefore you should be aware it can take up to 25 working days to start your child on transport.
The application will be reviewed by the School Transport Service who work closely with the Children's SEN Service. The process is:
- Parent/carer submits an online application
- School Transport receive and assess the application
- If the application is eligible then an approval update is sent via the online portal
- If the application is NOT eligible then a rejection reason will be sent via the online portal
Applications being considered as an exception to policy can take significantly longer to process. In these cases parents/carers are notified in due course.
