Hampshire SENDIASS provides free online workshops for parents and carers to help them understand SEND processes, including applying for an EHCP, reviewing draft plans, SEN Support, Alternative Provision, and SEND Tribunal appeals. These sessions offer practical guidance and opportunities to ask questions in a supportive environment. EHCP – Considering an Education, Health & Care Plan
Who is it for?
Parents considering whether their child may need an EHCP, or those wanting to understand the application
process.

What it covers:

  • What an EHCP is
  • When and why a child may need one
  • How to begin the application

Session frequency: Monthly.


Responding to a Draft EHCP
Who is it for?
Parents who have received a draft EHCP and need help understanding how to respond within the required
timeframe.
What it covers:

  • How to review the draft plan
  • How to request changes
  • What to look for in each section
  • How to prepare feedback

Session frequency: Fortnightly.

 

Ordinarily Available Provision & SEN Support

Who is it for?

Families of children without an EHCP, or those on SEN Support.

What it covers:

  • Support every school should provide as standard
  • What additional help is available for children on SEN Support
  • How to work with the school to ensure needs are met

Session frequency: Monthly.

 

Alternative Provision (Section 19 – Education Act)

Who is it for?

Parents whose child cannot attend school due to exclusion, illness, or other circumstances.

What it covers:

  • What counts as “suitable education”
  • Your child’s rights under Section 19 Case law examples
  • Practical tips for advocating for your child

Session frequency: Monthly.

 

Appeals to the SEND Tribunal

Who is it for?

Families lodging or considering a SEND Tribunal appeal.

What it covers:

  • Steps in the appeal process
  • Collecting and preparing evidence What to expect at the hearing
  • Ways to resolve issues before the hearing

Session frequency: Monthly.

 

CAMHS Event

Hampshire CAMHS is offering a range of free events, training days, and information sessions designed to support young people’s mental health, as well as to equip parents, carers, and professionals with practical strategies and advice.

These events are open to families across Hampshire and cover a variety of topics including anxiety, low mood, trauma, neurodiversity, parent wellbeing, and more. Sessions are facilitated by CAMHS clinicians and partner organisations.

These sessions offer families:

  • Direct access to mental health professionals
  • Practical strategies for supporting children and teens
  • Increased understanding of common challenges such as anxiety, low mood, ADHD, autism, trauma, and school-related stress
  • Opportunities to seek advice early, reducing the need for crisis intervention

Free drop‑in opportunities for parents/carers, young people, and professionals to speak directly with CAMHS clinicians, ask questions, and access resources.

P.A.C.E. (Parent and Carer Events) Free events aimed at helping families understand the needs and challenges young people may face and how best to support them.

Parent & Carer Training Day – Chandler’s Ford

  • 15 May 2026

A full day of learning focusing on understanding parental emotional needs while supporting a young person’s mental health (topics include guilt, responsibility, and acceptance).

 

Trauma Training – Basingstoke

  • 4 June 2026

Understanding the impact of trauma on the young person’s brain, body, and behaviour, and how to guide them from “surviving to thriving.”

 

Suicide Prevention Training (SASI) – Waterlooville

  • 11 June 2026

A one‑day training event for anyone working with young people, hosted at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Waterlooville.
